Divorce

If you are considering a divorce, or your spouse has recently filed a divorce complaint, it is important to understand your rights and obligations. While divorce is generally based on no-fault grounds in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, you will need to resolve all economic claims you and your spouse have under the divorce laws of the relevant state in order to get divorced.

These claims include the division of property acquired – and debts incurred – during your marriage and, in some cases, the payment of alimony from one spouse to another after divorce. In Pennsylvania, you may file for divorce from your common law spouse if the marriage existed prior to January 1, 2005.

Our initial consultation will provide you with an overall snapshot of the big picture.

To help you dissolve your marriage, we will need to identify and value marital assets and debts, determine the nature and extent of household incomes and work closely with you to develop appropriate settlement options based on your circumstances.
