Philadelphia Legal Name Change Clinic and CLE

BKW attorney Phillip Sylvester attended the Philadelphia Bar Association’s February 1, 2020 legal name change continuing legal education course and clinic that followed immediately thereafter. The course was taught by the Bar Association’s LGBTQ Committee co-chairs and the Mazzoni Center’s staff attorney, Brenda Klitsch. Phill’s summary of the event was published in the March 2020 issue of the Philadelphia Bar Reporter:

[The] presentation focused on respectful ways to engage with LGBTQ clients and followed with a precise explanation of the name change process in Philadelphia . . . The presentation focused on core cultural competency (a.k.a. “Trans 101”) to equip every lawyer with the appropriate vocabulary and understanding necessary to represent trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming clients.
